Iontophoresis is an old technique used since the early 1900’s but fell into disuse because it is time consuming and inconvenient and because pharmaceutical products were heavily promoted as alternatives. Iontophoresis is again available more efficiently, effectively, elegantly and safely. We invite manufacturers to consider including this technology in their product list. Iontophoresis is an application of Energy Medicine. It is the process of causing ions and drugs to diffuse into living tissue with the aid of low voltage electrical currents, pulsed with unique waveforms and specific frequencies. It has been used to inhibit skin infections and to diffuse anti-inflammatory drugs into painful and swollen joints and tissues. It is so safe and painless that it has been used on the cornea to diffuse antibiotics into the eyes. Any area of the body can be treated for fungus typically feet, groin, scalp, fingers. For each location a specially shaped electrically conductive pad or basin is used. A typical session lasts 30 minutes and is usually given 3-5 times weekly for 2 weeks, then on a weekly basis. Treatment is more effective during an acute outbreak because the deeper cells are more exposed. Athlete's Foot: This is a very common condition (Epidermophytosis) affecting over 90% of the population. The very high incidence is because the fungus is extremely infective and resistant. Like Herpes, the organism can lie dormant and hidden until triggered by environmental circumstances or an emotional or physical crisis. DC versus Pulse: Pulsed mode introduces waveforms frequencies which have superior long term results, break down infective organisms and operate on higher bodies. Direct Current mode is more pleasant, powerful and allows higher currents up to 6 ma for faster, deeper results. A typical session should have equal amounts of each. |
