For sales In Canada only:  This product is designed to assist in controlling bacteria and algae in pools. This device will augment bactericidal and algicidal activity of primary disinfectants such as chlorine or bromine in swimming pools.  A minimum of 0.6 ppm free available chlorine or the equivalent bromine residual must be maintained.  This product has been registered in Canada only as a copper ionization device and cannot be sold in Canada with Silver ionization.  

A recent press release quotes a recent CDC report warning that half the pools tested in a study last year had serious problems including water quality and filtration systems.  The release revealed serious health and safety problems with public water features according to the U.S. Government's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in Atlanta, Georgia. The report, titled "Healthy Swimming 2003" can be found at the CDC's web site at http://www.cdc.gov/healthyswimming/. Inadequate cleaning and safeguarding of swimming pools may be exposing millions of Americans to harmful bacteria that cause diarrhea and other illnesses, according to the report.

The answer, says the Silver Institute is silver-based water sanitation systems which can provide a relatively Chlorine-reduced safe swimming environment. Why Ionization?

Copper and silver ionization has been used in crude ionized form for centuries. Egyptians used copper and silver containers to control bacteria in their water. The aristocracy of Europe used Silver containers for wine to protect themselves against Plague and Smallpox. The crude silver ions caused blue skin colour; hence the name "blue bloods".  Pioneers used silver coins in their water to keep their water fresh.


What Does an Ionizer Do?

Now this ancient innovation is harnessed in the advanced technology of the ionizer, which produces fine quantum nano-clusters of atomic particles and ions. The ionizing component can inactivate algae and many bacteria proving to be an effective means to maintaining superior water quality.

How Does it Work?

A low voltage electric charge across two metal bars is used to emit metallic atoms, ions and  nano-crystalline particles into the water.

Copper has the ability to pierce the protective outer membrane of a cell and disrupt enzyme balance, as well as allowing other bactericides and algaecides access to the susceptible mitochondrial parts of the organism.
